The short version.
Popolo is a place to keep the recipes you cook from. This page explains, in plain language, what we do with what you save.
What we store
The recipes, notes, names and photographs you save. Your account email so you can sign back in. The Tables you belong to and the notes you leave on other people's cooking.
What we never do
We never sell your data. We never send marketing email. We don't run ads. Your recipes are not training data for anyone.
Reading handwriting
If you add a recipe by photographing it, we send that photograph to Anthropic's Claude to read the writing and type it up for you. That is the only thing the photo is used for — it isn't used to train anything, and it comes straight back to your cookbook, saved alongside the recipe.
Who can see your recipes
Your recipes are private by default. Only you can see them. A recipe becomes visible to someone else in two ways: you generate a share link and give it to them, or you bring the recipe to a Table you share with other cooks.
Your copy is yours
You can export everything you've saved at any time, in a plain-text or JSON file, from your settings page. You can also delete your account and everything in it. When you delete, it's gone — from the app and from our backups on the usual rotation.
